440 Gallery Artist :: Ella Yang |
|
Ella Yang is a second-generation Korean-American and a native New Yorker, who at mid-life returned to her passion for drawing and painting after giving corporate life a good, long try. Based in Brooklyn, NY, she usually looks for subjects in her backyard, whether from a gritty industrial street next to the Gowanus Canal or on a neighborhood sidewalk next to colorful mom-and-pop shops and cafes. She is often attracted to views that might not have obvious aesthetic appeal, but where the commonplace has a special patina at the moment she is there. While oil painting is her primary medium, Ella has played around in others, e.g. etching, pastels and watercolor. Ella is thrilled to have been included in 100 New York Painters, a book by C.M. Dantzic (Schiffer Books). Visit her website at EllaYangStudio.com.
